The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta returns to Ashton Court for another spectacular weekend of colour, entertainment and unforgettable family experiences.

Taking place from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th August 2026, this iconic free event celebrates Bristol’s rich ballooning heritage and brings together more than 100 hot air balloons for one of the UK’s most breathtaking spectacles. 

Visitors can enjoy mass balloon ascents, live entertainment, family activities, food stalls, music stages and the famous Nightglows, where illuminated balloons light up the evening sky in time to music.

• Mass ascents: Approximately 6am and 6pm daily, weather permitting

The event is free to attend but as a not-for-profit organisation there is a charge for car parking to help cover operational costs.

Nightglows

On Friday and Saturday evenings, visitors can experience the Fiesta’s famous Nightglows. As darkness falls, dozens of hot air balloons inflate and glow in sync to a soundtrack provided by BBC Radio Bristol, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

Important information

Balloon flights are weather dependent, particularly due to wind conditions. Decisions about whether balloons can fly are made shortly before each scheduled ascent following pilot briefings.

Even if weather conditions prevent flights, the Fiesta still offers a packed programme of entertainment, activities and family fun throughout the weekend.
